Oh, happy Sunny day. The rain has been non-stop these past few days, putting me in a bit of a funk. I don’t think it has helped that I have been continuing to battle a cold or as of right now just a cough. Hacking up a lung doesn’t seem to sit well when trying to smoke. So, after a few days of relaxation, I am back at it (or trying to at least). For today’s review I am smoking the Gran Habano #1 Connecticut. With its Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and Nicaraguan binder/fillers, this cigar is the epitome of smooth. The band showcases the bight green, red, and gold colors that portrays the Gran Habano and Connecticut names.

In a Connecticut Mood

So here I am back outside, taking in the nice weather. I have really missed this feeling or maybe I am just lacking in Vitamin D (you can laugh). The wind is still absolutely crazy as it has been the past few days causing me to shield my smoking with the hood of my jacket. I recently tried buying my cat Holly a leash so I can walk her outside, but you can imagine how that went. The first half of my smoke is very smooth and nutty. I love the creaminess of this cigar already. Sometimes honestly, I am just in a Connecticut mood, and this is one of those times. I feel sometimes Connecticut’s get a bad rep, but I never understood why. There is also an underlying coffee taste that just gets stronger as I head toward the halfway mark of my smoke.

Change in Flavor

As I am walking, I am listening to one of my favorite podcasters (Mr. Ballen). Anything with true crime is usually a hit for me. He recently came out with a medical mysteries podcast as well, which I basically binged on all the episodes. Past the halfway mark, there is a bit of change in the flavors, as leather takes a front seat. This is a very mild cigar in my opinion, but I really enjoy the flavor profile so far. The burn has also been perfect, despite the heavy wind gusts. I am pairing my smoke with a vanilla latte I made at the house prior to my walk. Coffee continues to be what I pair most with my cigars. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol very often, I find it to be the most enjoyable for me.

The final third of my smoke brings about the same flavor profile, except that it has added a bit of spice. Honestly, you hardly notice it due to the strong leather notes. I love the simplicity and smoothness of this cigar. It is affordable too, which is always a plus to me. I am currently imagining myself sitting on the beach watching the sunrise smoking this cigar and drinking coffee. Sounds like heaven to me.
