MUWAT (My Uzi Weighs a Ton) 7x70 cigars are full-bodied monsters that are the product of collaboration between Drew Estate and Joya de Nicaragua. It all started in the renowned Joya de Nicaragua factory during a consumer blending session on a Cigar Safari Tour back in 2010. After hosting blending sessions for the tour at their own factory over the previous 3 years, Drew Estate decided to reach out to Joya de Nicaragua. Long story short, Jonathan Drew ended up forming a tight relationship with Joya de Nicaragua and over the next several months came up with an ultra-premium, surprisingly bold and flavorful cigar set to be named “The Uzi.” That was, until the fateful day Jonathan Drew picked up a satchel of the freshly rolled monster cigars and exclaimed “My Uzi weighs a TON!” Thus the new name would stick around forever. The blend itself is simple, yet perfectly put together. Bold Nicaraguan and Brazilian filler leaves are rolled in Connecticut broadleaf maduro binders and then embraced in a jet-black San Andres Negro wrapper. They are ultra-powerful and not for the faint of heart.

Ultra modern packaging includes extra large bands with military style lettering. The fateful collaboration between Joya de Nicaragua and Subculture Studios is boldly noted beneath the name. Expert construction provides a well-built cigar comparable to some of the finest cigars in the world. The draw is easy and the huge cigars give off a plenteous amount of thick gray smoke. Following a steady, heavy dose of pepper in the back of the throat, bold coffee and cocoa flavors join subtle sweetness and a core of rich tobacco to bring together a rich, velvety smooth beast of a cigar. The massive 7x70 is the largest current cigar in the MUWAT lineup, coming in at a jaw-breaking 7” x 70.

Whether you’re a strength junkie, a fan of massive cigars, or a Drew Estate nut, MUWAT is a must try. It is an example of how two of the biggest names in the business can join forces to make a knockout smoke that will indubitably dominate the market. Rich, bold, and on the far end of the full-bodied category, MUWAT pairs well with any strong red wine or dark beer. Comparable cigars include Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970, Liga Privada T52, and Nica Rustica—all cigars under the ever-expanding Drew Estate umbrella. The name is different, the blend top-notch, and the sizes are out of this world. Bottom line: Don’t let the funny name fool you—MUWAT 7x70 is a serious cigar for serious smokers.
