1 x La Historia by E.P. Carrillo E-III (6 7/8" x 54, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 95). Selected by Cigar Aficionado as the 2014 #2 Cigar Of The Year. This was the first box-pressed cigar produced by EPC and it is a winner. From the dark and oily San Andrés Maduro wrapper to the Ecuadoran Sumatra binder and the aged Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, this cigar is gorgeous. The vibrant bands that wrap around the stark black wrapper leaf are beautiful. The oils burst with flavor as soon as La Historia hits your lips. A smooth earthiness is the first sensation before lighting, but after the flame, there is an amazing dark chocolate that comes through. Towards the end, a leather note perfectly mixes with all the flavors previously mentioned. Master cigar maker Ernesto Perez Carrillo has put all his knowledge of the love of the industry into the making of this beautiful stick.

1 x Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua No. 2 (6 1/8" x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 95). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2021 #2 Cigar Of The Year. Each stick is born in the San Lotano Factory in Nicaragua and is rolled under the supervision of AJ Fernandez himself. The wrapper, filler, and binder are 100% Nicaraguan leaves from his very own family farms. Each vitola is softly box-pressed and rolled to precision. The draw is soft and easy, the smoke production is superfluous, and the flavor is impeccably rich and exciting. An enormous burst of Nicaraguan spice greets the palate on opening puffs, soon settling down to a bold medley of black pepper, caramel, and cinnamon. Notes of earth and coffee hang in the shadows as a woody core of flavor emerges to take over the blend. A solid level of spice remains throughout the cigar, and the finish is sweet, speckled with light floral notes.

1 x Aging Room Quattro Original Concerto (6" x 54, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 95). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2013 #2 Cigar Of The Year. Aging Room cigars are by design very limited productions, for the Quattro Original Vibrato, the bottleneck is the small batch of Sumatra used for the wrapper, a once-in-a-lifetime find from a closed cigar factory and used exclusively to cover the Dominican filler and binder of the Quattro Original. Dark and chocolate brown, the rare leaf that covers this cigar is leathery and offers up a floral aroma. Earthy and thick, the smoke that coats the palate once the cigar is lit is bright white and lingers in the nose to call forth beautiful oak and gentle nutmeg. At some point during the second third, an orange-like sweetness can be noticed on the tip of the tongue while the rest of the mouth-tingling flavors increase in strength and spiciness. The finale of the cigar slams into high gear, a spicy-sweet rush you will not want to put down.

1 x My Father La Opulencia Toro (7" x 50, ●●●●● Full, Rated 95). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2018 #2 Cigar Of The Year. This cigar consists of a bold, complex core of Nicaraguan long fillers, a double Nicaraguan binder (Corojo and Criollo), and a gorgeous Mexican Rosado Oscuro wrapper leaf. Though the recipe seems simple, the result is a work of art. Expertly rolled and beautifully box pressed, La Opulencia gleams with natural oils and flaunts a luxurious marbled appearance. At first light, the palate is greeted by Don Pepin's signature pepper blast. The initial white pepper soon turns earthy and creamy, evolving into a deep, rich profile of spice, sweet tobacco, and bakers' spices. On the finish, a spicy cayenne note tingles the nose as a burst of nutmeg flavor and a hint of cocoa follow. There is also a faint mix of coffee and cedar lingering throughout, making for a delightful multi-layered experience.

1 x Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro Robusto (5" x 50, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 95). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2016 #2 Cigar Of The Year. The blend of consists of a spicy, bold blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobacco beneath a dark, veiny Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper. The construction is immensely beautiful, not just esthetically, but in terms of the way the cigar burns and smokes. A medium-firm draw delivers dense clouds of thick, white smoke, pounding the taste buds with an immediate blast of spicy Nicaraguan pepper. The spicy introduction is soon followed by layer after layer of delicate nuances, including mocha, chocolate, and nutmeg. A rich, earthy undertone remains constant throughout, holding the sweet and spicy flavors together in beautiful harmony. The finish is sweet, clean, and quick.
