As one reviewer cleverly put it, it probably should’ve been called “Abel.”
This cigar features a lighter brown Habano wrapper with a reddish hue, and like the binder and filler, it hails entirely from Nicaragua’s Jalapa Valley. Handcrafted on the Oliva Family farms in Estelí, the Cain Daytona delivers a full-flavored yet remarkably smooth experience—one that begs for repeat performances.
At the foot, the cigar gives off an inviting aroma of cedar, berries, and a touch of pepper. In fact, one deep sniff had me sneezing—always a good sign of a lively profile. Upon lighting, the first inch is dominated by spice and pepper, but it doesn’t last long. Those bold notes quickly give way to a more balanced and nuanced medley of nuts, coffee, and a creamy sweetness that’s almost reminiscent of a Werther’s Original.
The construction holds up beautifully—an even burn line, salt-and-pepper ash, and just a touch of carbon burn (maybe a few more days in the humidor would’ve helped, but it didn’t hurt the experience). The Cain Daytona produces thick, satisfying clouds of smoke and a rich, pleasant aroma throughout.
All in all, the 5" x 50 Cain Daytona Robusto is a fantastic addition to the Cain family. It proves that Cain isn’t just about raw strength—it’s about flavor, balance, and refinement, too.
