Laranja Reserva by Espinosa
When Erik Espinosa parted ways with his former business partner and began his solo venture into the world of premium cigars, things got off to a fairly slow start. That is, of course, until 2014, when he introduced what many considered to be one of the most intriguing cigars to hit the market in years, and the stick that would become one of his crowning achievements: Laranja Reserva. Named after the Portuguese word for "orange," Laranja Reserva isn't named only after the orange packaging theme, but also for the orange-hued Brazilian wrapper leaf that gives this blend its character. Espinosa calls the leaf "Brazilian Laranja," although no such leaf actually exists. Still, however, this gorgeous leaf mixes beautifully with the blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos inside, coming together to make a cigar worthy of a 94 rating in Cigar Aficionado, along with a spot on the magazine's prestigious Top 25 Cigars of 2015. With this chain of events, Espinosa Cigars would be established as a hot name in the cigar business and Erik and his team would end up taking advantage of the momentum to continue to build the legacy.
