ACID 20 Connecticut Cigars
A short while back, Jonathan Drew celebrated his world-famous ACID brand’s 20th anniversary with the ACID 20, a dark, rich infused blend available only in a Robusto size. Then, in early 2022, the king of infused cigars decided to expand his Twenty line with ACID 20 Connecticut, this time offered in a more generous 6” x 54 Toro. Made in the famous La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate factory in Nicaragua, this version ditches the dark San Andres wrapper leaf and replaces it with a light golden Ecuador Connecticut leaf. In combination with the original blend of fillers from Nicaragua and a binder from Indonesia, this minor change makes a world of difference. The final product is a well-aged, hugely interesting medium-bodied infused cigar suitable for just about all audiences.
The sleek silver and black boxes house chrome-clad vitolas that exude all the luxuries a premium cigar should. The impeccable construction of this modern take on the world’s most famous flavored cigar line leaves nothing to be desired. The smooth, productive draw offers dense clouds of thick, spicy smoke that tell a crazy story from the first puff. Cedar, wheat, and mild earthiness begin the journey, but this soon turns into a twisty trail of sweet, fruity flavors. Hints of nuts and espresso linger in the background, as citrus, dark cherry, and black pepper surround a core of bread-like goodness. The sweetened tip of the cigar allows the smoker to adjust the level of sweetness savored with each puff. Medium-bodied, the ACID 20 Connecticut is more than a worthy successor of its dark-clad counterpart.
