La Hacienda First Growth Cigars
La Hacienda First Growth is one of the more popular regular production cigars from Warped. Made at the Casa Fernandez factory in Nicaragua, also known as TABSA, La Hacienda is a true Nicaraguan puro, meaning all leaves used in the production of the blend hail from Nicaragua—wrapper, filler, and binder. The tobacco used for this cigar isn't just any old Nicaraguan leaves, however. In fact, all three components are high-priming, heavily aged Corojo 99 from the AGANORSA Leaf farms. For the filler blend, a dash of Criollo 98 was added to round things out, and the end result is a top-shelf stick that earned a 90 rating soon after its release. Not only is La Hacienda one of the biggest stars of the Warped lineup, but its reasonable price point makes it all the more attractive.
Packaged in nearly nondescript cedar chests with each vitola bearing a single, ornate black band, La Hacienda keeps with Warped's theme of keeping things simple. That is, except for when it comes to the flavor profile! When it comes to that, Warped La Hacienda really displays its special attributes. An easy and productive draw offers billowing clouds of silky white smoke, at first light pounding the palate with spicy Nicaraguan white pepper. Soon, aromas of cedar and nuts join the party, along with an underlying black cherry sweetness lingering in the background. An earthy core of robust tobacco flavor holds the package together, and it is appropriate to say that this, like many other Warped blends, truly mimics the unforgettable flavor of the Cubans of old. Medium-full-bodied and beautifully balanced, this cigar offers all the characteristics any true connoisseur could ask for. The First Growth is a 4" x 50 short robusto that offers massive amounts of flavor. The size was named after the term "First Growth" in the Bordeaux Wine Classification of 1855, which denotes top tier vineyards, or the "best of the best."
Most Warped sticks are aimed at a more experienced audience, and La Hacienda is no different. The robust medium-full-bodied nature and complex and spicy flavor profile demand a palate that has been there and done that. This cigar pairs well with bourbon or medium-full-bodied beer, but is completely appropriate to pair with coffee as an exciting way to start the day. Fans of fuller-bodied Nicaraguan cigars like Guardian of the Farm or Tatuaje will doubtless be impressed with the Cuban-esque flavor qualities of this blend.
