Viva La Vida Diademas Finas Cigars
In 2015, former Cigar Inn retail owners Gus and Billy Fakih transitioned away from their New York storefronts to establish their own brand under the banner of Artesano Del Tobacco. Their flagship venture, Viva La Vida, came to fruition through a partnership with master blender AJ Fernandez, who manufactures the lineup at his acclaimed Tabacalera AJ Fernandez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Viva La Vida Diademas Finas is an authentic Nicaraguan puro, crafted entirely with leaves grown on the Fernandez family estates. Featuring a dark Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro 2000 wrapper, a Corojo '99 binder, and a filler recipe composed of Criollo '98, this blend showcases the richness and depth of Nicaraguan soil. The collaboration has proven to be a resounding success, with the overall line garnering significant industry praise, including a 94 rating and #16 Top 25 ranking for its sister vitola, the Jester, in 2020.
Visually, the dark, oil-rich wrapper exhibits a fine, toothy texture across its rustic surface. Each stick is wrapped with a distinctive band depicting stylized jester artwork, giving the brand a bold, contemporary look. Upon lighting, the tapered 6 ½” x 52 Diademas Finas figurado shape draws effortlessly, producing heavy volumes of cool, thick blue smoke. The profile opens with a burst of white pepper and sharp Nicaraguan spice, before settling into a savory, full-bodied core of oak, cinnamon, leather, and rich earth. A slight floral sweetness registers through the retrohale, offering a pleasant counterweight to a heavy, lingering finish.
Crafted specifically for seasoned palates, the Viva La Vida Diademas Finas delivers a direct yet multi-layered smoking profile rooted in classic Nicaraguan intensity. Its pronounced spice and deep wood notes make it an exceptional pairing for bourbon, single malt scotch, or full-bodied craft beer, especially when enjoyed after a heavy meal. Positioned alongside other notable AJ Fernandez blends like Enclave and Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua, this figurado stands as a testament to fine tobacco selection and expertly executed full-strength blending.
