Following the sale of their New York retail locations in 2015, Cigar Inn founders Gus and Billy Fakih established Artesano Del Tobacco to bring their own boutique portfolio to the global market. To bring their vision to life, they partnered with master blender AJ Fernandez, who crafts the entire lineup at his renowned Tabacalera AJ Fernandez facility in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Viva La Vida Club 500 is an authentic Nicaraguan puro, blended using aged estate-grown tobaccos harvested across the Fernandez family farms. Built around a dark Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro 2000 wrapper, a Corojo '99 binder, and an internal filler selection of Criollo '98, this release showcases the deep spice and rich soil character of its origin. The collaboration between Artesano Del Tobacco and Fernandez has earned widespread critical acclaim across the industry, highlighted by a 94 rating and #16 Top 25 ranking for its sister vitola, the Jester, in 2020.
Visually, the dark Habano Oscuro wrapper leaf exhibits an oily sheen with a fine, toothy texture stretched over its sharp box-pressed frame. Each stick is adorned with a signature band portraying stylized jester artwork, giving the brand a bold visual identity. Lighting the 6" x 60 Box-Pressed Club 500 vitola yields an effortless draw that releases dense clouds of blue smoke from the foot. The initial burn greets the palate with an assertive blast of white pepper and heavy Nicaraguan spice, which gradually settles into a complex full-bodied core of oak, cinnamon, leather, and rich earth.
