San Lotano Habano Churchill is a 7 inch by 54 ring cigar. After years of being the man behind many well-received cigars, AJ Fernandez, the Cuban exile, decided to do what many had anticipated, he finally released his own brand, San Lotano, nationally. Introduced in three different wrappers, San Lotano is made at A.J.'s Tabacalera Fernandez, the Nicaraguan factory responsible for Man O' War and many other cigars.
Fernandez is renowned for his tobacco knowledge and this plays well because he also has a fairly diverse group of tobaccos for each of the San Lotano blends. Add to this the recently introduced San Lotano Oval, a mixture of aged and proprietary tobaccos and we have a completely different animal altogether. The San Lotano Habano is the strongest of the original blends, featuring a rare Brazilian Habano wrapper from the Fuego family over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan, Honduran and Dominican tobaccos.
At its core, the Habano is cedar with earth, wine and meaty notes. Halfway through, a drastic amount of pepper joins the fray adding to the flavor profile. It's medium-full in both flavor and body, full in strength. Compared to the San Lotano Connecticut and the San Lotano Maduro, the San Lotano Habano is best described as earthier and fuller. Experience smokers favor the San Lotano Habano over the other two original blends mainly due to its complexity and fullness, both of which are ahead of the other two blends.
