Second in the 3-part modern Ichiban lineup, Ichiban Maduro Toro weighs in at 6” x 50 and, like its counterparts, is hand-rolled in the Dominican Republic. The filler blend is heavily aged Honduran, Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobacco, the binder is a bold leaf from Nicaragua, and the wrapper is a gorgeous Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro. Putting this dark and oily wrapper over the already-stellar blend really gives it a whole new character, and fans of maduro cigars will no doubt be drooling once they light one up.
The Ichiban series bears the Sakura flower on the band, a Japanese symbol which reminds us that, like the flower itself, life is short and beautiful. Beautiful also is this delectable cigar, masterfully rolled and packed just right with top shelf tobacco. Beautiful also is the flavor profile, which starts off earthy and spicy, soon transitioning to an array of cocoa and bakers’ spices. A subtle woody note compliments the blend, and the finish is thick, yet clean. Medium-full-bodied, Ichiban Maduro is a solid choice for anyone who holds the beloved dark leaf in high esteem.
Room 101 Ichiban Maduro is a phenomenal cigar for the price. Appropriate for all cigar smokers, it offers a great flavor profile and wonderful balance, all while remaining fantastically affordable. Similar to such maduro sticks as Flor De Oliva Maduro, Romeo y Julieta Media Noche, and Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro, Ichiban Maduro pairs well with coffee, port wine, and dark beer.
