Punch is a cigar that has survived many years in the business and whose name is synonymous with quality, enjoyability, and absolutely iconic flavor. Punch is indubitably one of the biggest names of all time, originally the product of master blender Frank Llaneza and made down in Honduras. The Rothschild at 4 1/2" x 50 consists of a rich blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobacco and a Connecticut Shade binder. It's then finished with a toothy Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, the finished product being an industry giant and a timeless masterpiece.
The red and gold band adorns the caramel-brown cigar, toothy and rough, but oh so beautiful. Starting off with a rush of cedar and earthy flavor, the smoke seems to dance on the palate to a melody of savory spice, white pepper, and hints of brown sugar and cinnamon. The finish is long and smooth with a definitive citrus note that has become a symbol of the original Punch blend. Flawless.
Punch was the favorite cigar of Frank Llaneza, and that says a lot, considering the many award-winning sticks that came from his factory. It's a great beginner cigar and pairs well with any medium beer, such as American lager, or red wine. Similar cigars include Flor de Oliva and Romeo y Julieta.
