1 x Plasencia Cosecha 146 San Agustín (5 ¼” x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 93). This blend is composed of a two-country blend of expertly crafted filler, each juicy vitola is finished with a Nicaraguan binder and gorgeous golden-brown wrapper from the Jamastran valley in Honduras. Woody and rich from the start, the smoke which pours over the palate carries bright freshly-brewed espresso, toasted cedar, leather, and more than a hint of dark fruit. Time will seem to slow alongside the burn as it reaches the midpoint and beyond, providing a vanilla buttercream sweetness to float atop deeper currents of earthy dark cocoa, anise, and orange peel, plus a whisper of chai tea in the retrohale to let you know this cigar is something special.
1 x Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepción (6” x 54, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 93). Selected by Cigar Aficionado as the #13 Cigar of 2019. This blend makes generous use of Ometepe leaf in both the binder and filler, complemented by additional tobaccos from other Plasencia farms and finished with a dark, oily Nicaraguan wrapper from Jalapa. The draw is easy, the burn is razor-sharp, and the smoke is dense and flavorful from start to finish. You’ll taste rich, earthy tobacco right away, followed by a rising wave of black pepper. As the cigar develops, notes of red chili, dark chocolate, and a creamy sweetness emerge in perfect balance.
1 x Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generacion V (7” x 58, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 93). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2017 #9 Cigar Of The Year. Almost seamless, with an oily sheen and a touch of tooth, the uniformly dark Nicaraguan wrapper looks almost as if it were poured over the firmly packed barrel instead of rolled. A cold test provides a gentle draw that carries hints of minerals and mint through the four-region filler blend. Creamy and silky milk chocolate is the first pronounced flavor to hit the palate after lighting, alongside robust black coffee, hazelnuts, cedar, and cherry stem. A touch of licorice accompanies the molasses, salted peanut, and malt that characterize the last couple of inches.
