Nub Dub 466 Cigars
Nub Dub 466 is the second cigar in a series of limited releases by Studio Tobac, makers of Nub, Cain, and other Oliva side projects. Hailing from Nicaragua like all Oliva cigars, Nub Dub follows the rest of the hugely successful Nub cigars rolled in just the right size to start in the "sweet spot," the part of the cigar with the most intense flavor. The 466 size is a chunkier 4" x 66 stogie that smokes cooler and longer than the original 460 size. Nub Dub is the exact same cigar in all aspects as the original Nub Maduro, except with a second maduro wrapper leaf to act as the binder, hence the name Nub Dub, or "Double," referring to the double Brazilian maduro leaves holding together the Cuban seed Nicaraguan filler blend. The result is a refined, bold, well-balanced cigar with top-notch complexity and luxurious flavor.
Nub Dub is a stout, firmly packed package of power. Despite the small size, Nub Dub will smoke as long as a normal-sized cigar due to its large ring gauge and densely packed filler blend. In many cases, 2+ hours is not unreasonable. Nub Dub starts out bold from the get-go. A blast of spicy pepper is the initial greeting, followed by the rich, chocolate bouquet common with most fuller-bodied maduro cigars. An earthy, toasty core remains heavy and rich, all the while gaining intensity from the spicy Brazilian wrappers. Nutty cocoa is apparent on the finish. Overall, a very enjoyable smoke.
