Nica Rustica El Brujito Cigars
The Nica Rustica El Brujito is a high-octane tribute to the "hardcore tobacco lover." Crafted by Drew Estate with the motto “Con Orgullo” (With Pride), this blend draws inspiration from the ancient, tobacco-centered rituals of the pre-Columbian Shamans of Estelí—famously known as “El Brujito.” Since its debut, this powerhouse blend has earned widespread critical acclaim, including a 90-rating from Cigar Aficionado, solidifying its place as a staple for those who demand raw, unrefined character.
Handcrafted at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate, the El Brujito features a bold core of Grade A Nicaraguan fillers from the Estelí and Jalapa regions, secured by a spicy Mexican San Andrés Negro binder. The finishing touch is a dark, oily, and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Jonathan Drew describes this blend as intentionally "rustic and unpolished," and the construction reflects that old-school aesthetic with a signature rat-tail cap and an unfinished (shaggy) foot.
The experience is a sensory "flavor bomb." An effortless draw produces massive, dense clouds of white smoke—a hallmark of Drew Estate—delivering a profile defined by heavy cedar, rich earth, cocoa, and roasted coffee. The finish is remarkably clean despite its intensity, with a retrohale that offers a hearty dose of Nicaraguan spice. At 6” x 52, this toro provides a medium-to-full-bodied journey that pays homage to the classic smokes once enjoyed by Cuban factory workers.
As is the case with other traditional, non-flavored offerings from Drew Estate, such as Liga Privada and Herrera Esteli, Nica Rustica is aimed at a more mature audience of cigar connoisseurs. Nica Rustica pays homage to the classic style of smokes the Cuban factory workers enjoyed many years ago.
