When translated, Liga Privada literally means private blend, and that is exactly what these were. Never meant for the market, this blend was created exclusively for Drew Estate’s own humidors. Liga Privada No.9 is the first and most famous iteration, featuring a blend of seven different tobaccos. Crafted of the same seven tobacco blend, the T52 utilizes a heavier, unique American grown wrapper leaf. The Undercrown was born when Drew Estate informed the torcedores they were unable to smoke any more of the No. 9s. The rollers took matters into their own hands and blended their own cigars. Following this tremendous success, Unico Serie was developed as a way to group all the "exotic" test blends from the Liga Privada project into one amazing lineup. It has been quite some time since Jonathan Drew and his team shook the premium cigar world with these releases of Liga Privada and Undercrown. Now, the bar has been raised even higher with Liga Privada H99.

This Liga Privada sampler includes:
1 x Liga Privada Unico Serie Papas Fritas (4 ½” x 44, ●●●●● Full). This cigar uses a Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper, Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, and a Brazilian binder. Heavy plumes of thick, white smoke will smear the taste buds with creamy cedar and intense spice. The solid, earthy core carries a constant cocoa note, along with hints of espresso, bread, and a touch of bakers’ spices. A clean, yet heavy finish spreads a blast of chocolate sweetness across the tip of the tongue, rounding out the brilliant flavor bouquet.
1 x Liga Privada No. 9 Robusto (5” x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). This is an extraordinarily rich mash-up of some of the world’s finest tobacco. This includes a top shelf mixture of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, a plantation grown Brazilian Mata Fina binder for added flavor, and a jet-black Connecticut Broadleaf Oscuro Ligero wrapper. An easy, almost overly productive draw offers billowing clouds of dense, white smoke, bombarding the palate with spicy ligero goodness. The earthy core is complimented by chocolate, oak, and mocha, along with hints of toasty nuts developing throughout the experience. The bouquet of unbelievable flavor concludes with a thick, sweet finish on the retrohale.
1 x Liga Privada T52 Robusto (5” x 52, ●●●●● Full). T52 is considered by many to be the flagship cigar of the Drew Estate cigar company. This stick utilizes a rare Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut & Cured Sun Grown Habano wrapper and consists of a precisely blended recipe of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers and a premium quality Brazilian Mata Fina binder. Expert construction offers an easy draw, bursting with dense explosions of heavy white smoke and slathering the palate with spicy notes of earth and cedar. Black pepper and spice remain constant as the meticulously orchestrated flavor bouquet is complimented by nuances of coffee and subtle floral flavors. A heavy note of spicy Nicaraguan pepper on the finish quickly turns sweet, rounding out what many consider to be one of the most intensely satisfying flavor profiles ever put together.
1 x Liga Privada H99 Robusto (5” x 54, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). The filler is a carefully curated mix of tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the United States. That third component? Pennsylvania Broadleaf—specifically, the legendary Green River One Sucker, considered by many to be the most potent tobacco in existence. The binder is a San Andrés Negro Ultimo Corte leaf from Mexico, while the wrapper is a hybrid, stalk-cut Habano Corojo-seed leaf grown in the Connecticut River Valley. From the first billowing cloud of silky blue smoke, the palate is awakened by a bold burst of pepper intertwined with cinnamon. This opening soon transitions into a rich medley of dark chocolate, espresso, and clove. An earthy tobacco core ties it all together, lending depth and strength to the blend, while the finish is long, rich, and sweet.

The slow, consistent burn produces silky blue smoke, enveloping the palate with earthy core flavors that develop into rich notes of creamy cocoa, roasted nuts, and sweet Nicaraguan spice.
