3 x Herrera Esteli Norteño Robusto Grande - (5 1/2" x 54, ●●●●● Full, 94-Rated). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2016 #7 Cigar Of The Year. Willy Herrera blended a collection of aged Esteli and Jalapa tobacco for the filler, then selected a Honduran binder to add a spicy kick to the rich San Andres Maduro wrapper he laid over each box-pressed vitola. The rounded-square profile of each heavy stick fits nicely in the hand, and the triple cap applied to the toothy, mocha-hued wrapper mirrors the overall quality of the rest of the cigar. This cigar is a full-flavored treat loaded with earth and cedar and a black pepper at the base but enlightened with buttered toast, sweet currants, and a luscious floral aroma.
3 x Herrera Esteli Habano Robusto Grande - (5 1/4" x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, 93-Rated). Selected by Cigar Aficionado 2021 #15 Cigar Of The Year. Consisting of a Nicaraguan filler blend and Honduran binder, this cigar is finished off with a beautiful Ecuadorian Habano wrapper leaf. True Cuban style packaging is only the beginning. Herrera Esteli Habano is constructed masterfully and seamlessly. The opening puff of Herrera Esteli Habano reveals a creamy, spicy bouquet of peppery, woody, and earthy flavors. Beautifully accenting a base of Cedar, crisp raw tobacco caresses the palate, telling a classic Cuban cigar story with each puff. This cigar is never harsh, always rich, and incomparably satisfying.
3 x Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro Toro Especial - (6" x 54, ●●●●● Full, 90-Rated). Made in Nicaragua, Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro consists of a stout blend of Nicaraguan filler tobacco and a robust Connecticut Broadleaf binder. What really makes the blend interesting, however, is the use of plantation-grown Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper leaf. This type of leaf is rarely used as the outer layer of a cigar and is more popularly used as a filler component or even a binder in some cases. However, the desire to "bring the Mata Fina to the forefront of the blend," thus ending up with an end result that is bold, interesting, and mysteriously intriguing. Apparently, the blend works, as it recently received a 90-rating in Cigar Aficionado.
