This exquisitely crafted cigar begins with a surprising amount of spice and pepper that will command your attention. Soon after, it settles into a smooth, delectable smoke with notes of cocoa and creamy cedar. A hint of caramel sweetness and cinnamon keep things interesting along the way. The finish is noted with an increased sweetness, along with creamy oak, cocoa, topped with a touch of spice. This stick definitely earns its 98 rating.
2 x E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic (5 3/8" x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, 96-Rated) 2018 #1 Cigar of the Year. The toothy, oily wrapper contains the aroma of rich tobacco and crisp fresh hay, thrilling the nose while the tongue detects a flourish of pepper during the cold draw test. Beginning dry and with deep notes of turned earth and charred oak when first lit, the cigar’s flavor soon brightens and expands to include black tea and sweet cream. Building slowly into full-bodied flavor, the strength remains a firm medium even as a crescendo of leather, citrus, and caramel washes over the palate.

A smooth earthiness is the first sensation before lighting, but after the flame, there is an amazing bitter dark chocolate that comes through. Towards the end, a leather note perfectly mixes with all the preceding flavors. This 6 7/8 x 54 masterpiece is crafted with a strong homage to the classic flavors of all the cigars from yesteryear.
2 x E.P. Carrillo Allegiance Confidant (6" x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, 94-Rated). This cigar is hand-built in Esteli, Nicaragua at Tabacalera de Oliva! As for the blend, we have Nicaraguan binders and fillers and, an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper leaf. This stick has an easy, productive draw and copious clouds of thick, white smoke. It opens with a burst of spicy Nicaraguan pepper, quickly settling down to an array of cedar, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. The entire flavor profile is built around a rock-solid core of earthy raw tobacco goodness. The finish is long, smooth, and powerful. The first run consisted of 150,000 cigars, but more may be rolled depending on demand. All things considered; it goes without saying that Allegiance was destined for big things. Soon after its release, it scored a couple of 94 ratings in Cigar Aficionado.
