My Father La Promesa Corona Gorda Cigars
The My Father La Promesa Corona Gorda is a cigar that carries deep personal significance for Don Pepin Garcia. Translating literally to “The Promise,” this line serves as a tribute to the vow he made to his family upon leaving Cuba: to achieve greatness in the cigar industry outside of his homeland. Decades later, with world-class farms and factories across Nicaragua and Miami, that promise has been triumphantly kept. This blend features a lush Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Oscuro wrapper that envelops a binder and filler composed of Nicaraguan tobacco grown on the Garcia family’s private estates.
Visually, the oily, reddish-hued wrapper is nearly seamless, beautifully complementing the classic My Father band and the green and blue "La Promesa" secondary label. Upon lighting, the signature "Pepin Pepper" delivers a spicy start before transitioning into a balanced profile of oak, leather, and bright citrus, with notes of cinnamon and brown sugar on the finish. While it possesses plenty of character, it is more refined and approachable than some of the brand's heavier historical releases. The 5 1/2" x 48 corona gorda is an ideal vitola for those who want to experience the blend’s complexity, utilizing a smaller ring gauge that highlights the influence of the wrapper.
The My Father La Promesa series has received high marks from industry experts, with the blend earning ratings as high as 92 from Cigar Aficionado. This medium-to-full-bodied smoke pairs exceptionally well with bourbon or port wine and stands as a testament to Don Pepin's legacy. By choosing La Promesa, you are experiencing the peak of contemporary craftsmanship and the fulfillment of a lifelong pledge.
La Promesa pairs well with bourbon, port wine, and sweeter dark beer, and is similar in stature to such other phenomenal My Father masterpieces as La Opulencia and Flor De Las Antillas Maduro. Jose Don Pepin Garcia is one of the most well known, beloved, and talked about cigar makers on the planet. His promise to become great has not only been fulfilled, but surpassed. Experience the greatness of Don Pepin Garcia and be a part of that promise with La Promesa Corona Gorda by My Father Cigars.
