My Father La Gran Oferta Toro Cigars
Since its stunning introduction at the IPCPR trade show in 2018, My Father La Gran Oferta Toro has captured the hearts of cigar enthusiasts the world over, firmly establishing a place in Don Pepin’s regular production portfolio and quickly becoming one of the most successful blends released by the Nicaraguan giant to date. Literally translated, “The Great Offer,” La Gran Oferta not only boasts seemingly unmatched quality, but is also one of the most affordable cigars offered under the My Father trademark. The simple, yet functional blend consists of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos and a red-hued Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper leaf. Though not as powerful as its My Father counterparts, La Gran Oferta delivers one of the most satisfying smoking experiences available from a new cigar in recent years. So satisfying, in fact, that Cigar Aficionado recently awarded it a 91 rating! As the saying goes, though, the proof is in the pudding, and one must experience this blend in person to truly grasp just how great this offer really is.
Packaged in luxurious boxes of 20, La Gran Oferta wears the standard My Father band in addition to a secondary band which, according to the folks at My Father Cigars, “features stunning artwork created after a very old cigar brand that sold under the same name, around 1913.” Beautiful in appearance, La Gran Oferta is masterfully rolled and offers an easy draw, producing massive clouds of thick, blue smoke. Black pepper opens the experience, along with hints of cayenne and cinnamon. Spicy and bold, but not overpowering, the flavor profile builds in strength as a definitive dark chocolate note carries along with it nuances of oak and espresso. As for the finish, there is sweet floral flavor and just a touch of black cherry through the nose. Clean, complex, and undeniably satisfying, it is so easy to see how My Father La Gran Oferta as taken off so quickly. The good ol’ 6” x 50 toro is probably the most popular size in the lineup. Just right for a couple hours of enjoyment, the Toro displays the most complete version of the amazing flavor profile of La Gran Oferta.
