Short and Fat Stature

It is official, I have turned into a popsicle. I admit that this past month my smoking time has been extremely limited. This frigid, face freezing weather has put me into a negative mind space when it comes to being outside in general. However, at least I still have my garage where I can retreat to in times of need. I may have to invest in a larger heater though, as my tiny one hasn’t been cutting it lately. However, today I have braved the cold and am smoking the Nub Maduro 460 courtesy of Cigar Place. Popular among cigar smokers due to the intense flavors in their “short and fat stature,” Nub has quite a lengthy portfolio coming from the Esteli Factory in Nicaragua.

I had to pull out my big boy gauge cutter to smoke this cigar and took about two minutes to full light the cigar. I am currently in the process of planning a trip to upstate NY to visit family and I am dreading the car ride and extreme cold. Negative temps aren’t for me, but I am excited to embrace some fun outdoor snow activities. My son is super excited for dog sledding, which he has never done before. SHOP NOW!

Creamy Chocolatey, and Smooth

The first half of my smoke is creamy chocolatey, and smooth. There is a slight hint of pepper too on the retrohale. This cigar has beautiful construction that showcases the maduro wrapper. The ash is also quite perfect and doesn’t even look like it will drop anytime soon. The flavors change some over the course of twenty minutes expanding to include a nutty coffee taste. I really enjoy the flavor profile and don’t mind that my jaw hurts a bit from smoking this cigar so far (yes, I know-you can laugh at that).

Earth Tones Mixed in With the Nuttiness

During the second half, most of the sweetness that occurred in the first half disappears now we have more Earth tones mixed in with the nuttiness. I really enjoy how the transition is slight, but still noticeable in the flavor profile. The wind is starting to pick up outside and the cold air keeps blowing on my face, causing me to shiver some. I really do feel like a big baby when it comes to the cold. I just can’t seem to embrace it! Nub often gets the brunt of a lot of jokes due to its size, but I feel it is treated unfairly! The flavors that are packed into this smoke are great and you can tell a lot of work when into the construction and blend. I feel like everyone should give Nub a chance, you won’t regret it. This cigar took me almost an hour to smoke and I enjoyed every minute of it!
