Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua Churchill Cigars
When a brand as iconic as Montecristo reaches its 85th anniversary, only the finest cigar could mark the milestone. Enter the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua Churchill, a blend that captures tradition and innovation in perfect harmony. Released in late 2020, this masterpiece is the result of a remarkable collaboration between Rafael Nodal, the Grupo de Maestros, and blending legend AJ Fernandez. Rolled at the famed San Lotano factory in Nicaragua, every cigar is a true Nicaraguan puro—from its silky wrapper to the binder and fillers grown exclusively on Fernandez’s own estates.
While Montecristo is long associated with Dominican craftsmanship, this bold creation demonstrates how the brand continues to evolve. In fact, the blend earned a 97-rating from Cigar Aficionado, cementing its place among the finest anniversary releases ever produced. Beautifully box-pressed and adorned with a regal black-and-gold band, the Churchill vitola commands attention both in appearance and performance.
Upon lighting, expect the signature complexity of AJ Fernandez: rich plumes of smoke, a steady draw, and layers of flavor that evolve with each puff. Bold pepper and spice lead the way, supported by notes of caramel, cinnamon, roasted coffee, and subtle florals, all grounded by a sturdy woody backbone. Medium-full in body and 7” x 52 in size, this cigar delivers a rewarding journey designed for extended enjoyment.
Tailored for seasoned smokers, the 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua is as refined as it is powerful. It pairs beautifully with port, coffee, or aged rum, and it is a safe bet that if you enjoyed either Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez or Monte by Montecristo AJ Fernandez, you will love this one. Whether you’re honoring your own milestone or simply looking for a cigar that exemplifies balance, richness, and legacy, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua Churchill is a fitting tribute to 85 years of excellence.
