The Man O' War Robusto cigar is an Ecuadorian habano wrapped Nicaraguan bound and filled cigar that is blended and produced by A.J. Fernandez.
This habano wrapper is a slightly oily, slightly veiny, chocolate brown with a touch of red. The double cap looks neat and smooth while the length of the stick is consistently springy. Perhaps a bit more springy than I'd like for it to be. The foot appears to be well packed, Even while it is resting on my desk, I can smell a sweetness in the air that can only be coming from the cigar. It's a sweet, syrupy smell, similar to that of dates or raisins.
The cold pull is to the tight side of perfection and tastes of peppercorns, cedar wood, with a touch of almonds or walnuts. The first third is peppery and coats the tongue as the draw eases up a bit. Smoke this too fast and it will be harsh on the tongue. Slow down a bit and enjoy this one. The 2nd third brings some leather, cocoa, and more, though darker nutty flavors. The final third doesn't really see a change of flavors just a difference in the dominant ones and the ways they come together. Smoking this Man O' War quickly will only result in a hot burning, harsh tasting cigar, other than that this is one good stick.
