Slammed full of carefully aged Dominican longleaf filler beneath an exotic Indonesian binder, this fine stogie is certainly not your father’s cigar. The bright green and silver band which proudly wears the frontmark of the Macanudo Inspirado Green Toro shares the modern look of the rest of the Inspirado lineup, a comparison which continues on to the quality of tobacco in and construction of each cigar. A pre-light test reveals a toasty, nutty aroma wafting to the nose while the smooth draw delivers the promise of cocoa and cream. Leading off with a solid run of espresso, soft pretzel, and oak, you’ll also witness a nice raw sugarcane sweetness sliding into the aftertaste. On deck for the middle third are roasted peanuts, brown butter, cinnamon, and dried fruit. Expect a home run in the final innings as chocolate malt, salted caramel, earth, and bright citrus clinch the pennant.
