Containing a succulent variety of Nicaraguan longleaf filler tobaccos from his private collection, each hefty stick is finished with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper to create a potent yet refined flavor-bomb.
What a lovely sight it is, holding a heavy La Gloria Cubana Colección Reserva Robusto in your palm. Smelling of tangy ripe tobacco and shining with gold highlights, the Sumatra wrapper is a glistening shell encircling the dark, juicy visos and ligeros visible at the broad foot. While the smooth draw offers sweet alfalfa and minerals when cold, expect the flavor to explode as soon as a steady flame is applied. A peppery blast awakens the palate, which is then soothed by creamy leather and a touch of honey. The middle of the cigar finds the mouth awash in Dutch cocoa, butter, and almonds long before the final third arrives with a shockwave of spice, sea salt, espresso, and rye toast.
