La Flor Dominicana has long been the baby of Litto Gomez. With the Chapter One Chisel a new book is being written in the famed factory. The first cigar blended by Litto’s son, Antonio, the La Flor Dominicana Chapter One is a great addition to the well established brand. Antonio may have started out with his father’s company as a regional Representative in Florida but every day he has considered a work in progress as he viewed his main responsibility within the great company as to learn something new about cigars, tobacco, and the brand all the time. The La Flor Dominicana Chapter One is a full-bodied and full flavored cigar hailing from Tabacalera La Flor in the Dominican Republic. Made with well aged Dominican filler and bound in a Connecticut broadleaf binder, the amazingly dark Brazilian Ligero Oscuro wrapper is the true star of this smoke. The first puff will greet you with a blast of pepper, but that quickly subsides and lets the sweet earthiness of the tobacco take center stage. This earthiness remains throughout the entire sticks with moments of other flavor notes weaving themselves in and out. The Uniqueness of the Chisel shape is that it does not require a cut. Simply pinch the end and you are ready to enjoy. In fact Antonio says that cutting the cap of this cigar changes the flavor.
The 6 1/2 x 58 La Flor Dominicana Chapter One Chisel is larger than all the other Chisels in the LFD lineup but the new size is perfect for the big flavors inside. This cigar is aptly named because it brings a new story to the great tome of the brand. While Litto Gomez is still the man behind the cigars, Antonio is proving that he is and will be a force to be reckoned within the cigar industry. The full-bodied masterpiece matches perfectly with a nice small batch bourbon.
