La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe Cigars - Rated 93 by Cigar Aficionado
The La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe cigar is a top choice for aficionados who enjoy premium medium-to-full-bodied cigars. Once a favorite of Winston Churchill, this legendary brand has a history as rich as its flavor. After being discontinued for decades, the brand was revived in 2002 when Robert Levin of Ashton reintroduced it to the world. By 2008, Ashton partnered with the master himself, Don Pepín García, to craft the La Aroma de Cuba Edición Especial. Just one year later, the original La Aroma de Cuba was completely reblended by Pepín and production moved from the Dominican Republic to Nicaragua, giving birth to the La Aroma de Cuba New Blend. Handcrafted with a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over aged Nicaraguan long-fillers, this line delivers bold, complex flavors in seven sizes: Immensa (5 1/2" x 60), Robusto (5" x 54), Rothschild (4 3/4" x 50), Belicoso (5 1/2" x 52), Monarch (6" x 52), Marquis (5 3/4" x 48), and Churchill (7" x 50).
The La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe captures everything that makes Pepín García blends so highly sought after. A natural sweetness from the Broadleaf wrapper pairs seamlessly with the spice of Nicaraguan tobaccos, producing layers of sweet cocoa, earthy leather, rich soil, bold pepper, and a hint of caramel. With flavor complexity leaning medium-full to full, and both strength and body in the medium-full range, it’s a cigar that satisfies without overwhelming. It’s no surprise that Cigar Aficionado awarded the New Blend an outstanding 93 rating, cementing its reputation as one of Pepín’s most celebrated creations.
