Built in the Dominican Republic, Pistoff consists of a hearty blend of double- and triple-fermented Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, an Indonesian binder, and a spicy Mexican San Andres wrapper. Aged to meld the flavors just right, the final result is the first powerhouse cigar from the Kristoff Cigar Company, and it is a darned good one at that.
Oily, dark, and rustic in appearance, Kristoff Pistoff is a beautiful specimen of a cigar. The best part is that it tastes even better than it looks! A spicy opening of white pepper greets the palate upon first light. This heavy pepper remains in the background throughout the smoking experience. Following is a bouquet of chocolate, toffee, nuts, and a hint of licorice. The finish is sweet and thick, tying the whole package together. Full-bodied may just be an understatement on this one.
Though most Kristoff cigars are suitable for all audiences, Pistoff should be reserved for the more experienced crowd. Its in-your-face style of bold strength may be too much for a beginner. However, strength junkies will come to appreciate the fact that Kristoff finally has something strong! The Robusto size is 5 1/2" x 54 and is great to enjoy for up to a couple of hours. Pistoff pairs well with dark beer, coffee, or bourbon and shouldn't be smoked on an empty stomach.
