Shade-grown wrappers are notoriously fragile, but the hay-scented Kristoff Connecticut Matador is a golden-brown work of art that sets the mouth to watering even before unleashing the nutty, cocoa-dusted flavors revealed during the beginning puffs. Warm caramel sweetens the more pungent nutmeg and black coffee that appear during the first third ripening to toffee, marzipan, and espresso, the flavors presented to the palate around the halfway mark with carrying you through to the end on smooth clouds of bright white.
Although a little more on the adventurous side than many of the mild cigars out there, the Kristoff Connecticut Matador is still a pitch-perfect companion for all sorts of aficionados.
