Kentucky Fire Cured Sweets Fat Molly is a unique new twist on the original, hugely celebrated Kentucky Fire Cured cigar brand from Drew Estate. Handmade in Nicaragua at the world famous Drew Estate factory, KFC Sweets incorporates a sweet tip and just enough added flavor to add some contrast to the smoky fire cured flavor we have come to love about the original blend. KFC Sweets features a dark brown Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf and a spicy Nicaraguan wrapper. The filler blend consists of some hearty leaves from Nicaraguan, along with the star of the show: Kentucky seed tobacco both grown and fire cured in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. As mentioned earlier, a sweetened tip finishes the package, making for one heck of a sweet and savory treat.

Kentucky Fire Cured Sweets features the same rustic packaging as its original counterpart, including paper-wrapped bundles and plain brown bands which appear to allude to the labels of prohibition era whiskey bottles. The glistening wrapper leaf displays all the gorgeous characteristics to be expected from premium San Andres tobacco, including a silky smooth texture and an extensive road map of rustic veins. The draw is easy and smooth, providing a monsoon of dense blue smoke with each puff. As for the flavor profile of the cigar, KFC Sweets shares the bouquet of bold fire cured characteristics with its predecessor. The overall note is halfway between a camp fire and a Sunday barbecue. There is plenty of spice from the Nicaraguan leaves, along with a faint earthiness looming in the background from start to finish. Strong blasts of hickory blast the palate as well. Where KFC Sweets truly shines, however, is the added sweetness from the tip. Though difficult to describe, a desperate attempt at pointing out the additional flavor would lead one to name maple bacon and bourbon. Whatever Jonathan Drew was going for, it goes just right with this blend. First there’s the smoky fire cured flavor, then comes the sweet finish on the tip of the tongue. As for strength, KFC Sweets is a rock-solid medium-bodied cigar. At 5” x 56, the Fat Molly is a fat robusto ready for a lengthy, cool smoking session.

Like the original Kentucky Fire Cured blend, KFC Sweets isn’t your typical cigar. It doesn’t taste like a standard cigar, yet it isn’t infused like many of Drew Estate’s other blends. At the end of the day, it just tastes different, and as anyone who has enjoyed fire cured tobacco will agree, it can be tough to describe that difference. As unique as it may be, KFC Sweets is still a fine cigar, and like any other stick coming out of the Drew Estate factory it is well made, consistent, and most definitely at the ultra-premium level. Medium-bodied yet heavy on flavor, KFC Sweets is a great cigar for anyone. Whether beginner or connoisseur, it will sure be an eye opener at the least. Due to the nature of this stick, it pairs exceptionally well with bourbon. (After all, anything with Kentucky in the name pairs well with bourbon, right?) KFC Sweets is an amazing stick, and doubtless a fantastic follow up to the original Kentucky Fire Cured and KFC Swamp Thang, both of which anyone who hasn’t already tried should definitely look into. Whether your cigar routine has seemed a bit boring lately or you just want something new and different, Kentucky Fire Cured Sweets Fat Molly by Drew Estate is calling your name!
