H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Robusto Cigars - 90 Rated
A perfect fusion of tradition and modern mastery, the H. Upmann by A.J. Fernandez Robusto is a standout cigar for both seasoned aficionados and newcomers alike. With a legacy dating back to the mid-19th century, H. Upmann has been delighting smokers for generations—chances are, your great-great-grandparents enjoyed the sophisticated flavors of this iconic brand.
Adding a contemporary twist, master blender A.J. Fernandez, known for acclaimed cigars like San Lotano, New World, Diesel, and Man O’ War, brings his expertise to this collaboration. Together, they’ve crafted a meticulously balanced blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican longleaf, wrapped in a bold Corojo ’99 binder, and finished with a rich Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper for a refined and flavorful smoking experience.
Each 5” x 52 chocolate-hued stick carries the laurel-wreathed H. Upmann band, with “1844” elegantly printed in gold atop a deep blue background reminiscent of tropical seas. A secondary band honors A.J. Fernandez as the master behind the blend, marking the Dominican brand’s Nicaraguan evolution. The thick, toothy Sumatra wrapper exudes a sweet barnyard aroma and subtle notes of cedar, while the first third of the smoke delights the palate with café con leche, marzipan, and malted barley. Midway through, floral undertones mix with hints of cocoa and spice, culminating in a final third rich with espresso, black pepper, and cherry stem flavors.
Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced, the H. Upmann by A.J. Fernandez Robusto earned an impressive 90 rating by Cigar Aficionado shortly after release, solidifying its reputation among cigar enthusiasts worldwide.
