Gurkha Ninja Spike Cigars
For years, the Gurkha brand was practically synonymous with high-end luxury and astronomical price tags, built on the back of extravagant releases like the Black Dragon and His Majesty’s Reserve. When Kaizad Hansotia was first presented with the concept of a budget-friendly line by his blending team, he was naturally skeptical about shifting away from that prestige image. The resulting creation was the Gurkha Ninja, and its massive popularity across the market quickly changed his mind. Handcrafted in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera Las Lavas, the core lineup was distributed in 20-count boxes across five main vitolas: Churchill (7 x 52), Knife (5 x 55), Perfecto No. 2 (6 x 60), Torpedo (6 x 52), and XO (6 x 60). However, retailer-exclusive line extensions like the Spike (6 ½ x 52 Toro/Lonsdale format) were also released to showcase the versatility of the blend.
The Gurkha Ninja Spike features a dark Dominican Criollo '98 wrapper paired with a Nicaraguan binder and a balanced filler blend of Dominican Cuban-seed long-fillers. This tobacco composition delivers the classic richness expected from a dark wrapper, opening with distinct notes of natural sweetness, dark leather, rich earth, and roasted nuts with a black pepper finish. Operating in a solid medium-to-full body with a medium-to-full flavor profile, the Gurkha Ninja line stands out from the rest of the Beach Cigar Group portfolio by stripping away fancy packaging and marketing gimmicks in favor of exceptional value. Backed by a 91 rating from Cigar Aficionado for top-performing vitolas in the blend, the Gurkha Ninja Spike offers enthusiasts a well-constructed, flavor-forward Dominican smoke at a remarkably accessible price point.
