Garnering a 90 point score from Cigar Aficionado, This Gurkha Evil XO cigar certainly lives up to it's name. Gurkha has jumped on the Brazilian wrapper bandwagon blending this Gurkha Evil for strength.
Joining the bold, leathery, nearly veinless, Brazilian Oscuro wrapper are a Dominican binder and Nicaraguan ligero fillers. Gurkha gave the binder and filler a chance to really mature by allowing them each to be fermented and aged for an additional period of time.
These extra-fermented, extra-aged, leaves have produced a well balanced yet daring smoke. This is a medium-full to full-bodied cigar with notes of spicy red pepper, faint tinges of citrus, hints of dark chocolate, clove, toasted almonds, and swirls of coffee.
The burn is even with flaky, dark grey and white ash. While not nearly as complex as the cigars we've come to expect from Gurkha, this stick is consistent and very much to the point.
If you like the Gurkha Evil, you should try the Acid Kuba Maduro or the Gurkha Black Diamond Maduro.
