The resurrection of a legacy brand is always a milestone, but when the Garcia family takes the helm, it becomes a modern masterpiece. Fonseca by My Father Petit Corona represents a landmark shift for the historic name, following My Father Cigars' 2019 acquisition of the brand. Moving production to their state-of-the-art Nicaraguan factory, they transformed this heritage line into a robust Nicaraguan puro. Every leaf, from the fillers to the stunning shade-grown Corojo ’99 Rosado wrapper, is grown on the Garcia family’s private estates. This bold evolution was met with immediate acclaim, specifically earning the #18 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2020 with an impressive 93 rating.
Visually, the Petit Corona honors its roots with a classic, rugged appearance featuring a toothy texture and intricate veins. The expert construction ensures an even burn and a voluminous draw of silky smoke. While the Fonsecas of old were known for being mild, this version opens with a signature "Pepin Pepper" blast, signaling a significant increase in strength. As the 4 ¼" x 40 vitola progresses, the profile deepens with notes of cedar, Cuban-style earth, and cinnamon, finishing with a delicate floral sweetness. Despite its small stature, it builds into a heavy medium-to-full-bodied experience that is short, intense, and incredibly satisfying.
Designed for the seasoned connoisseur, this blend carries the unmistakable DNA of My Father’s most prestigious releases. It pairs beautifully with bourbon, scotch, or dark rum, offering a complexity similar to El Centurion or My Father La Opulencia. Whether you are nostalgic for the Fonseca name or a devotee of modern Nicaraguan powerhouses, this Petit Corona stands as a testament to world-class blending and the fulfillment of a legendary legacy.
