After this, a smooth, powerful array of wood, bakers’ spices, and nutty flavor make up the bulk of the flavor profile. This incredible puro hails from Honduras and boasts a robust blend of all-Honduran tobacco—wrapper, filler, and binder, grown in the beautiful Jamastran Valley. This tobacco is all but ordinary, however, as the stash used for these stogies is an heirloom crop that hasn’t been used in over 50 years. Construction-wise, expect what has always been expected for a cigar rolled under Christian Eiroa’s supervision: an easy draw, crisp, sharp burn, and incredible consistency from cigar to cigar. Dense, thick plumes of silky white smoke pound the palate hard with earthy tobacco flavor. Definitive notes of cedar and nuts adorn the flavor profile, along with leathery nuances and hints of cayenne. Sweet cocoa lingers in the background as the cigar progresses, and the finish is smooth, yet intense.
1 x Eiroa The First 20 Years Colorado Robusto (5” x 50, ●●●●● Full). This cigar is handmade at the El Aladino factory in Honduras using all Honduran tobacco grown on the Eiroa Family Farms. For this release, the wrapper leaf has been extensively aged and turned a beautiful reddish-brown color, hence the name “Colorado,” Spanish for “colored red.” The result is a world class cigar built with a serious connoisseur in mind. The construction is impeccable, the burn is sharp, and the draw is easy and unusually generous. A burst of cedar followed by a strong nutty core is immediately present at first light. This base is soon followed by creamy raw tobacco, hints of white pepper and nutmeg, and sweet spice. Cinnamon and a toasty bread note lie faintly in the background, and the finish is bold and laced with intense spice.
