Selected by Cigar Aficionado as the No. 11 Cigar of 2022 and rated 93, the E.P. Carrillo Pledge Apogee continues the legacy of excellence from one of the most respected names in premium cigars. As the third release in Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s acclaimed Perez-Carrillo series—after La Historia (95 points, No. 2 of 2014) and Encore (96 points, No. 1 of 2018)—Pledge was crafted to push the boundaries of quality and flavor. Expertly rolled by seasoned hands at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, it combines a Nicaraguan filler, Ecuadorian binder, and a rich Connecticut Habano wrapper grown in the U.S., resulting in a blend worthy of its historic 98 rating and 2020 Cigar of the Year honors.
Presented in ten-count lacquered cedar boxes decorated in classic blue and gold, each 6 1/4" x 58 cigar features impeccable construction, a flawless box press, and a golden ribbon foot. Expect an easy draw, voluminous smoke, and a razor-sharp burn. The flavor profile opens with black pepper and hearty Nicaraguan spice, then evolves into a refined combination of earthy tobacco, espresso, and roasted nuts, complemented by hints of cocoa, cinnamon, and fresh bread. A soft, sweet retrohale balances its medium-full strength, creating a slow, nuanced smoking experience that rewards every puff.
Pledge Apogee is blended for true aficionados with well-developed palates. Its bold yet harmonious character pairs exceptionally with fine red wine, top-shelf cognac, or robust coffee and stands shoulder to shoulder with iconic premium lines like Padron 1964 and Diamond Crown Maximus. Limited in production and always in demand, this is one of the most coveted cigars on the market—a masterpiece from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo that belongs in every serious smoker’s humidor.
