E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Stellas Cigars
In 2010, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., the architect behind the success of the modern La Gloria Cubana, introduced the E.P. Carrillo Core Line, and announced that a Connecticut cigar was to follow shortly. What Ernesto didn't tell the world was that he was going to try to reinvent the perception of Connecticut shade wrappers. The man that redefined Maduro named his newest line NWC, New Wave Connecticut. The result was a Dominican-made cigar that features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers offered in five sizes: Briliantes (5 x 50), Stellas (5 1/8 x 42), Divinos (6 x 52), El Decano (6 x 60) and Gran Via (7 x 49).
The E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Stellas cigar is not your typical Connecticut. While it's still medium in strength, body and flavor are anything but strong. Even though most Connecticut's offer some form of pepper, the NWC features a significantly more developed flavor that shows complexities of cedar, leather, earth and cocoa. There's a decent amount of creaminess that begins to remind you that this is still very much Connecticut. While there is no individual flavor that would be considered mystical, it's the overall flavor that is so unique as far as Connecticuts go. Simply put, there is no Connecticut offered on the market that features as much flavor and complexity as the E.P. Carrillo NWC. This is a perfect cigar for those just getting started and great for those experienced smokers who have overlooked Connecticut due to its normal limitations.
