E.P. Carrillo Encore Valientes Cigars
This Encore blend has been rated 96 points by Cigar Aficionado, and the E.P. Carrillo Encore Valientes stands out as a superb Nicaraguan puro crafted by one of the Dominican Republic’s most respected cigar makers, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. True to its name, this cigar delivers such a satisfying performance that reaching for a second feels inevitable. The “Encore” name pays tribute to Carrillo’s early dream of becoming a jazz drummer before embracing his heritage as a fourth-generation master tobacconist, where balance and rhythm guide every blend.
Expertly composed using a meticulously selected mix of Nicaraguan long-leaf tobaccos, aged in traditional tercios wrapped in royal palm leaves, this award-winning blend achieves a seamless harmony of refinement and strength. The result is a smoke that is smooth, complex, and undeniably repeat-worthy.
The 6 1/8" x 52 box-pressed Valientes makes a strong impression before it’s even lit. Firmly packed with premium tobaccos, it features a creamy foot ribbon and elegant dual copper-and-gold bands that reflect decades of craftsmanship. Aromas of rich tobacco and fresh hay rise from the toothy, oily wrapper, while the cold draw delivers a gentle peppery spice. Once lit, flavors of turned earth and charred oak open the profile, evolving into notes of black tea and sweet cream. As the cigar develops, layers of leather, citrus, and caramel unfold across the palate, delivering full-bodied flavor supported by a smooth, medium strength from start to finish.
A true expression of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s mastery, the Encore Valientes offers balance, depth, and pure smoking enjoyment. Ideal alongside a favorite beverage and good music, this premium cigar lives up to its name—don’t be surprised if you’re ready for an encore when it ends.
