Cohiba Blue Churchill Cigars
When one of the most iconic cigar brands in the world launches a new regular production line, it’s always a noteworthy event, and that was certainly the case with the Cohiba Blue Churchill. Carefully produced under strict supervision at General Cigar Dominicana in the Dominican Republic, Cohiba Blue provides a more accessible, reasonably priced alternative to the luxurious high-end sticks typically associated with the famous red dot. Introducing an affordable “entry-level” Cohiba proved to be a major success, and today this flavorful blend remains one of the easiest ways to experience the brand. Its recipe features a three-country filler of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican Piloto Cubano leaves, bound with a Honduran Habano binder, and finished with a premium, extensively aged Honduran Habano wrapper.
The updated packaging is striking, featuring vibrant blue boxes and textured blue-and-silver bands that give a contemporary edge to the classic Cohiba design. The construction is flawless, and the draw consistently delivers rich, flavorful smoke with each puff. The Blue Churchill opens with a creamy texture and bold notes of white pepper and rolled oats, gradually revealing hints of cedar, coffee, and earthy tobacco. Smooth and balanced, it offers a medium-bodied smoking experience with just the right depth and flavor. The 7 ½” x 50 Churchill is long and elegant, providing a leisurely smoke that allows the complexity of the blend to fully develop.
Although “beginner” and “Cohiba” are rarely mentioned together, the Blue Churchill makes an exception. Medium-bodied and approachable, it’s simple enough for newcomers while engaging enough to satisfy seasoned aficionados. It pairs beautifully with bourbon, medium-bodied beer, or coffee, making it a versatile choice for nearly any occasion. While crafted in the Dominican Republic, the Honduran influence shines through, so fans of classic Honduran cigars like Punch or Camacho will feel right at home. A premium-quality Cohiba with a delicious tobacco blend at an honest price? It exists, and it’s called the Cohiba Blue Churchill.
