The Casa Magna Oscuro Robusto is a Honduran Oscuro wrapped, Nicaraguan bound, and Nicaraguan filled cigar that is produced in Esteli, Nicaragua. It's sibling the Casa Magna that was rated the #1 Cigar of 2008 by Cigar Aficionado. The Casa Magna line of cigars are the brainchild of Manuel Quesada and Nestor Plascencia.

The Casa Magna Oscuro features a dark, dark, almost black Honduran Oscuro wrapper. There were a few noticeable veins but they didn't affect the smoke at all. The burn line was a bit jagged and required a touch up or two but nothing out of this world annoying. The smell coming off the foot is one of dried fruits, raisins and dark cherries. Once lit those flavors meld with a that classic Nicaraguan chocolate flavor though somehow, the Nicaraguan spice we've come to expect is missing here which certainly isn't the worst thing to find out. Some folks like flavorful cigars without the spice. If you're one of them, this might be the perfect stick for you.

The flavors were great and very straightforward but to me and many others it's seems to be missing that one thing that will put it over the top and make it phenomenal. That said, this cigar is going to be great competition in the everyday smoker's $5 price point range alongside the CAO La Traviata, though this cigar is definitely the better of the two sticks.
