1 x CAO Pilon Robusto (5" x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 90). The CAO Pilon is a gorgeous cigar to behold, with a smooth golden-brown wrapper highlighted by a few thin veins. It's still the flavor which will astonish and amaze. Full of dark cocoa, toasted nuts, sweet cedar and warm spices, these medium strength delights will never disappoint.
1 x CAO Flathead V660 Carb (6" x 60, Medium-Full, Rated 90). Selected by Cigar Aficionado as the 2015 #3 Cigar Of The Year. This cigar starts its ignition with a strong, thick river of sweet, chocolatey flavor. The overall base is earthy, with just a few hints of pepper and coffee sprinkled about. As it evolves, a rich sweetness begins to dominate the flavor profile, giving bursts of floral and cocoa notes. Flathead is maduro and ligero at its best, with a wonderful mix of sweet, spicy, and strong.
1 x CAO Gold Torpedo (6 1/4" x 52, ●●●○○ Medium, Rated 91). Silky and golden-brown shade wrapper, the CAO Gold Torpedo needs little help in drawing your attention. A cold draw allows an aroma like warm pastry to entice the nose while spices sparkle on the tongue. Leather and cedar predominate the creamy smoke soon after lighting, but you won't have to dig deep to find richer veins of flavor. Nutmeg and marzipan swirl together to keep the hints of black pepper and licorice from becoming overwhelming, while vanilla and orange peel join to create a rich, warm undercurrent.
1 x CAO Maduro Belicoso (6" x 54, ●●●●○ Medium-Full, Rated 90). This gorgeous black beauty has a hearty blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, an Ecuadorian binder, and a beautiful triple-fermented Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper. When it comes to an old-school maduro flavor profile, CAO Maduro is tough to beat. Beginning with rich chocolate and coffee notes, CAO Maduro progresses with nuances of white pepper, earth, and raw tobacco. The finish is long and spicy, and the cigar gains strength as it's smoked.
1 x CAO Session Bar (6" x 49, ●●●○○ Medium, Rated 90). The vitola itself is built with CAO's legendary craftsmanship, including a firm pack, nearly seamless roll, and an easy, overly productive draw. Session begins with a blast of sweet spice and earthy maduro goodness. Notes of cedar and leather linger in the background throughout the smoke, as the flavor profile changes from earthy to sweet, showing heavy notes of espresso and dark chocolate. Red pepper and a faint vanilla note show up on the finish, and overall, this package is full-flavored and medium-bodied.
1 x CAO Nicaragua Matagalpa Corona (5 5/8" x 46, ●●●●● Full, Rated 91). An astounding amount of longleaf tobacco from Condega, Jalapa, and Esteli has been stuffed beneath the oily, lightly veined wrapper to create a uniformly solid vitola that feels like velvet and smells of wood. Starting off with a leathery burst, the profile soon expands to include white pepper, cocoa, and cream. There's a caramel sweetness lurking in the background as the strength soon reaches medium-full, with spice, graham cracker, almond, and cedar all playing a role as the sharp burn line slowly makes its way to the nub.
1 x CAO America Potomac (5" x 56, ●●●●● Full, 92). A tribute to the good ole red, white, and blue, CAO America is a unique dual wrapped cigar which smokes like a dream. Just as America is called a melting pot so is CAO America. An extremely unique blend of filler tobacco from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic is paired with tobaccos from Italy as well as America. A spicy Brazilian binder holds it all together. Just as one-of-a-kind as the filler blend is the wrapper. A dual wrapper of Connecticut shade as well as Connecticut broadleaf maduro are utilized to create a barber pole effect.
1 x CAO Cameroon Robusto (5" x 50, ●●●○○ Medium, Rated 92). Reddish in hue, the characteristic spiciness comes through right away. The extreme balance of the filler mixed with the wrapper is one of the many reasons CAO Cameroon received a 92 rating from Cigar Aficionado. Rigidly square-pressed, the burn and draw were perfect. The flavor is top notch as well. Cigars with a Cameroon wrapper have a very ardent fanbase, and this stick is sure to please the most discerning. Tangy and spicy are two words that immediately came to mind as soon as we took our first puff.
1 x CAO Brazilia Samba (6 1/4" x 54, ●●●●● Full, Rated 91). Even the band on the cigar is a tribute to its origins, with the Brazilian flag and the 'Handmade designation written in Portuguese: 'Feito á mão'. As if to signify its unusual character, the smooth and finely veined Arapiraca leaf exudes a unique earthy and phenolic, almost medicinal, aroma. The cigar is soft without being spongy but the draw after sniping the large cap is nice and firm, a testament to talented torcedors. Not content to be ordinary, the CAO Brazilia starts with a bang as soon as it is lit, offering up coffee and black pepper. This settles after the first inch, but some additional spiciness is added for the second half, including hints of clove as the flavor develops.
1 x CAO Italia Ciao (5" x 56, ●●●●● Full, Rated 92). Flavorful, rich, and potent, CAO Italia begins with a chocolatey sweetness that intensifies as the cigar progresses. There are bold, earthy flavors, along with an array of spicy pepper and some sweet floral notes as well. This cigar is inevitably unique and very satisfying in the flavor department. This cigar is packed with flavor.
