Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged Robusto Cigars
We do not think it necessary to describe the obvious potency and deliciousness inherent to Camacho’s new Nicaraguan Barrel Aged Robusto cigar, but since you are here let us go ahead and set mouths to watering. Comprised of a sultry variety of fine filler tobaccos from Honduras and the Dominican Republic, plus a hefty dose of aged Nicaraguan Corojo further rested for five months in used rum barrels sourced from the famous Flor de Caña distillery, each juicy vitola offers a three-finger pour of palate-pleasing flavor. Add in a shot of intensity provided by a Mexican Negrito San Andres binder, and yet another stiff slug from the Ecuadorian Havana 2000 wrapper, and you have got yourself a recipe for a flavored cocktail of staggering proportions.
It should come as no surprise that the Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged Robusto cigar is an aroma powerhouse even before being lit. The charred and rum-soaked barrels which hold the Nicaraguan longleaf during its long nap imbue a heady, sweet pungency that fills the nostrils and teases the lips. Using the same filler bunching technique utilized in Camacho’s Powerband line, a fully lit 5” x 50 Nicaraguan Barrel Aged immediately begins filling the mouth with reams of shockingly bright smoke loaded with the taste of sugarcane and enhanced by white pepper, leather, and toasted oak. The rum becomes evident as the sweetness boils down towards molasses, but mostly as an enhancement to the cafe con leche and dark cocoa flavors that fill these medium-to-full strength treasures.
Whether or not you are familiar with this cigar’s elder kin the American Barrel Aged, you owe it to yourself to try the Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged Robusto. There’s just a depth of flavor provided by this newly-popular aging technique impossible to find elsewhere. A word to the wise; you might be tempted to pair it with rum from the beginning, but give yourself a chance to dig into the smoke’s complexity by sipping a mild cup of coffee or even cold sparkling water for the few couple of sticks. You will be amazed at what you will discover.
