Butera Royal Vintage Dorado Cigars
A rich and creamy medium-bodied cigar suitable for any time of day, the Butera Royal Vintage Dorado is not as pedestrian as it might appear on the surface. Making it big in the cigar business is tough work, but there's a reason this quality handmade has survived since its initial creation by renowned pipe maker Mike Butera way back in 1993. Crafted in the Dominican Republic using six different types of tobaccos from three different countries, including a spicy Indonesian binder and a velvety smooth Connecticut wrapper, there's a depth of flavor to be found within these marvelous 6" x 52 stogies that's just not found anywhere else.
Each Butera Royal Vintage Dorado is amazingly constructed, so whoever recruited the responsible torcedors is one of the unsung heroes of this whole affair. Smelling of fresh cut grass and mild spice, the spotlessly golden Shade wrapper coats the barrel with just the right amount of give and an excellent draw. With creamy smoke that is buttery sweet like shortbread cookies soon after lighting, the counterpoint flavors of crisp cedar and roasted almonds soon add a wonderful complexity. Its creator's affinity for pipe tobacco becomes obvious during the impressive final third as hints of chocolate, herbs, and orange peel can be found through careful exploration.
An old-school stogie from the height of the cigar boom that still stands the test of time, you really should give these fine sticks a try. Excellent with everything from a bold espresso to a vintage port and on to a smoky Scotch, this is the kind of cigar you'll be reaching for again and again regardless of what else is sitting in your humidor. Give in to nostalgia and grab a box of Butera Royal Vintage Dorados today.
