The JC Newman Cigar Company, famous for ultra-premium blends like Diamond Crown, Maximus, and Julius Caesar, struck gold with a cigar designed for incredible flavor at an approachable price: Brick House Corona Larga. The original Brick House was a Cuban puro from nearly a century ago, named after the Newmans’ childhood home—the only brick house in their Hungarian village. The line vanished during the Great Depression, but decades later Eric and Bobby Newman revived the brand with a Nicaraguan filler and binder finished in a unique Ecuadorian Havana Subido wrapper.
Brick House quickly earned its reputation as a high-value premium cigar, landing two 92 ratings and a spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars list twice, including the Corona Larga’s 2016 honor as #17.
The presentation is understated yet refined. True to JC Newman’s standards, construction is excellent with a smooth draw and generous, creamy smoke output. The flavor profile opens with a subtle note of white pepper, then transitions to layers of cinnamon, coffee, cedar, and a touch of coconut on the retrohale. Hints of nutmeg and maple add richness, all centered around a classic sweet tobacco core. Medium-bodied and versatile, this 6 ¼" x 46 corona larga size delivers a slightly bolder flavor thanks to its narrower ring gauge.
Accessible to both new smokers and seasoned aficionados, Brick House pairs beautifully with coffee or medium-bodied beer. Comparable value-priced Nicaraguan cigars like Flor de Oliva or Perdomo Fresco are natural alternatives—but Brick House’s reputation for consistent quality makes it a must-have in any humidor. Affordable, flavorful, and dependable, the Brick House Corona Larga remains one of the best everyday smokes in premium cigars.
