The Beginnings Of Rocky Patel Premium Cigar Company

Rakesh "Rocky" Patel, a Hollywood attorney, launched Indian Tabac Cigar Co. in 1995 after becoming interested in cigars while spending time with actors between takes. He left his legal firm to start the business.

It was founded in California in cooperation with Phillip Zanghi III, who oversaw the company's expanding and manufacturing activities in Honduras. The company was named after the Indian Motorcycle. In 2006, the firm relocated to Naples, Florida, and was renamed Rocky Patel Premium Cigars; the Indian Tabac brand was phased out in 2014.

Initially controlled solely by Rocky Patel, the firm has been co-managed since 2013 by his brother Nish Patel. He oversees sales and extensive customer connections, and his cousin Nimish Desai oversees manufacturing. Its headquarters were in Bonita Springs as of 2015.

The Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend Gorilla was one of the biggest cigars in the early 2000s, and other manufacturers imitated its size. In 2008, the Rocky Patel Decade cigar, created to commemorate the company's tenth anniversary, received a classic 95 rating from Cigar Aficionado.

Patel founded Burn by Rocky Patel, a cigar and drinks bar in Naples, in 2010. Other lounges debuted in Pittsburgh, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, and Atlanta in 2018 and 2019. The Naples lounge will host one of the preliminary rounds of the Cigar Smoking World Championships in 2020.

How Did a Los Angeles Attorney Become the Cigar Industry's Reigning King?

The premium cigar industry began to evolve dramatically in the early 1990s. Rocky Patel works as an entertainment and product liability lawyer in Los Angeles. Rocky was introduced to cigars by a buddy and fell quickly enamored with them. He became a founding member of the Grand Havana Club in Los Angeles.

Rocky was contacted with a business concept to make cigars while dabbling in numerous investing enterprises. Rocky was still wary because it was still the early days of the cigar boom.

Nonetheless, the investment was made, and the first Indian Tabac cigars produced in Honduras began to thrive on the American market.

Rocky took the first step in his adventure in 1996 when he displayed Indian Tabac Cigar Co. at the RTDA trade exhibition in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hundreds of these new, attractively wrapped sticks were purchased at the exhibit. Rocky believed it was up to upstart firms to enter the market with new ideas, bold packaging, and larger cigars.

Patel has gone against the grain with his eye-catching packaging, and the plan has paid off.

The Most Popular Cigars Produced By The Company

Rocky is always thinking about cigars because he is always striving for perfection. Rocky is constantly developing new ideas and strategies for packaging, marketing, enhancing mixes, and every other aspect of generating the completed product.

Rocky Patel Vintage cigars, his first brand bearing his name, have evolved into his flagship brand, with five Vintage Series: 1990, 1992, 1999, 2003, and 2006.

The Sun Grown Maduro is his best-rated cigar from Cigar Aficionado magazine, earning 95 points and ranking second in 2016. While Rocky Patel is thrilled and flattered by such an honor, he is far from content. He'll never rest on his laurels since there's still more excellence to be attained.

Where Are The Premium Rocky Patel Cigars Made?

Initially, all cigars were made from tobacco cultivated in El Paraiso, Honduras, on land leased from Nestor Plasencia. Patel eventually moved to Nicaragua, where he started producing in Estel alongside Amilcar Perez Castro and developed a plant.

Rocky has facilities in Honduras and Nicaragua, where he gives factory tours for cigar enthusiasts worldwide. He aims to provide his customers with a "one-of-a-kind experience" by allowing them to observe firsthand the passion that goes into his cigar manufacturing processes.

The rigorous work and quality control experienced by his guests translate into a true appreciation for the devotion and time required to create his cigars. Rocky also ensures that every guest has the opportunity to smoke the completed product. This is just one of the many ways he acquires lifelong customers.

Rocky Patel's Survival of the Cigar Boom

Patel, a veteran of the cigar boom, has outlasted his competitors with unequaled perseverance in his pursuit of perfection. Rocky has maintained the same passion since day one, despite a demanding travel schedule, office responsibilities, and production.

As he travels the world, placing cigars in people's mouths, his devotion extends beyond the merchant, allowing his customers to meet the guy behind their favorite smokes. Rocky Patel has built a firm that outperforms even multimillion-dollar organizations and does it one client at a time.
