Named After the Green Valley Region Where the Tobacco is Grown
Am I wearing a tank top in October? WHY YES I AM. It is 80 degrees right now and I am enjoying taking my afternoon walk with my Pug while the weather is still nice. It’s amazing how fast time has gone these past few months. It is very true what they said that the older you get, the quicker it goes. Besides the nagging lower back pain I have, I at least don’t feel too old…..yet. However, I am super excited to be smoking a stick I have never had before, the Partagas Valle Verde. Boy is she pretty. The green, white and gold band stands out against the Mexican San Andres wrapper. This new line of cigars was named after the Green Valley region where the tobacco is grown. The binder is Cameroon while the fillers are Mexican San Andres, Nicaraguan Jalapa, and Esteli.Pepper and Earth Tones
I feel like I have a little pep in my step today as I walk the dog. Maybe it’s being extra motivated, not sure why as I slept pretty horribly last night, but hey I will take a positive when I get one. The first half of mt smoke has a bit of pepper and Earth tones. There is A LOT of smoke, more then I was expecting. The cigar is a bit “harsh” right now. I use that term loosely, but it does have somewhat of a bite to it. Walking my Pug is a bit of chore due to him forever stopping and smelling/licking everything. It is pretty distracting, and I have to light my cigar midway through.
Flavor Profile Changes
The flavor profile changes a bit heading towards the halfway point. There is a bit of creamy sweetness mixed with chocolate. The harshness has subsided luckily and there is just a bit of spice added to it. I regret not bringing a drink with me as my mouth is extremely dry. I could really use an iced coffee to pick me up. I am having a little bit of an issue with the burn being wavy, but I feel that has to do with the environment and having to relight midway through.Towards the end of my smoke time, the spice increases quite a bit as well as the Earth tones. I would say the midway point had been my favorite and I wish that had been consistent throughout. It almost makes the ending a little bland unfortunately. I do feel that I would need to smoke this cigar to get a true evaluation of the flavors. I had to take away a point for the extra harsh bite that the cigar had in the beginning and the blandness at the end. I do though enjoy the transition in flavors and that it wasn’t so one dimensional.
