Embracing the Warmth of Spring
I can literally feel the seasonal depression floating away as I bask in the 80-degree weather outside. Spring is officially here, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I’ve even busted out the shorts, which I haven’t done in months.
April is just around the corner, and I’m gearing up for one of my busiest months of the year. Between birthdays and work commitments, I know I’ll be stretched thin over the next 30 days. So, I’m making it a priority to enjoy as many cigars as I can before things get hectic.
Today's Smoke: Omar Ortez Connecticut Toro
Today, I’m smoking the Omar Ortez Connecticut Toro. This smooth blend of Nicaraguan fillers and binder is wrapped in a Connecticut wrapper, perfectly complemented by the classy yellow foot band.
Since this is a 6x54 Toro, I’m settling in for a 90-minute smoke session. The first half greets me with a little bit of spice mixed with earthy tones. It’s incredibly smooth yet has a slight bite—something different from other Connecticuts I’ve had.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to find a dry spot on my patio. Last night’s storm left the chairs wet, and to add to my morning annoyance, half of my outdoor decorations were scattered across the yard. But you’d never guess it rained—the weather is absolutely beautiful. As I reach the halfway mark, the cigar’s strength picks up to medium, maintaining a consistent burn. The flavor remains steady with no major shifts.
Unexpected Distractions and Flavor Transitions
Starting the second half, I had to relocate thanks to an annoying wasp. As if that weren’t enough, my neighbor’s dog decided to go outside, barking non-stop—another mild annoyance.
At this point, the flavor profile evolves, introducing notes of leather with a hint of sweetness. The cigar remains extra smooth, and I appreciate the back-and-forth complexity of the flavors—it’s never boring. The construction and burn are flawless, which is a relief after struggling with a few inconsistent cigars recently.
I always appreciate cigars that deliver rich flavors while remaining affordable.
Money is tight for a lot of people right now, so finding a great stick that doesn’t break the bank is a win.
If you’re a fan of Connecticut cigars and enjoy a smooth, flavorful experience, I highly recommend giving this one a try! SHOP NOW
