Oliva Cigars Are On a Normal Rotation in My Humidor
Oh, happy day. The sun is shining and I am so happy to be able to enjoy the outdoors again full-time. It feels a little bit like Summer, and I am here for it. The family and I just got back from a mini adventure in Columbia…(PA) to do some hiking and eating (of course). But now, I am relaxing on the patio getting a tan with my swimsuit on. This week I am smoking the Oliva Serie G Churchill. Oliva cigars are on a normal rotation in my humidor. I love that their cigars are on a higher quality, but also affordable. This cigar has an African Cameroon wrapper, Nicaraguan filler, and a Habano binder. The band has the pronounced Oliva name with its signature gold. It is a striking cigar, and one that you can't miss!
Strong Flavors of Coffee, Bitter Chocolate, and Bread
The first half of my smoke consists of strong flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate, and bread. There is a bit of pepper on the retrohale, but nothing too overpowering. You honestly may even miss it if you don’t notice it right away. Luckily, for once, it is also not windy outside. It finally feels nice to relax after a busy day. I really missed the sun or just being able to lay out without a coat on. I seem to always feel better with a tan, must be the Floridian thing. My dog has joined me also, but the high 80’s temperature does not sit well with him (Pug thing), so he quickly retreats back in the house. The draw and burn has been right on so far.
Creamier, with Hints of Cedar
Towards the second half of my smoke, the cigar becomes a lot creamier, with hints of cedar now coming through. There isn’t too many changes in the flavor profile so far, except that it is consistently good. I also have to mention there is quite a bit of smoke in the second half as well. I may have coughed like an amateur a few times (don’t tell anyone). This is a long smoke as well; with the Churchill shape, I am already at a whopping hour and 45 minutes. It is a slow burn, so you better have some time to spare. At the final 30 minutes of my smoke (roughly two hours), the creaminess increases as well as the coffee notes. I really like how smooth the transitions are as well. It makes the cigar a very easy smoke; I would even say this would be appropriate for a novice smoker.
Overall, this is a great smoke. Very consistent and medium bodied. It has been a staple in my humidor for quite some time, and I was happy to be able to smoke it again.
