Ecuador Habano Wrapper with Nicaraguan Binder
Can you believe it? Another sunny day here in Pennsylvania. I feel my luck may be changing though as I hear a cold front is coming through and I will be freezing my butt off once again. I am sure you can all tell by now that I am ready for Summer. Recently, I have changed jobs which has increased my workload about 150%, so having the time to smoke these days is a real win for me. Today I am reviewing another cigar courtesy of CigarPlace: Nub Habano 460. Short, fat and full of flavor, this smoke is very popular among cigar enthusiasts. The Nub collection comes in five different wrapper varieties and are handmade at the Oliva factory in Nicaragua. The Nub Habano has an Ecuador Habano wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and fillers.
Earth Tones and Spice (but Not Pepper)
Currently, I'm back again on my patio enjoying the sunshine. My pug and cat have decided to join me also, causing a bit of friction near the chair I am sitting in. My neighbor is currently arguing with her husband about the cost of groceries, which is making me chuckle about the ridiculousness of it. The first half of my smoke there is quite a bit of Earth tones and spice (but not pepper). The spice is a little sweet and fruity which tends to increase the longer I smoke. I really enjoy these flavors and find it to be an easy smoke so far. I had to put down the cigar for a bit to go inside and grab my coffee. I am currently trying to wean myself from drinking too much caffeine, but that seems to be a challenge lately. Probably the unhealthy combination of stress and no sleep. I also am currently writing a "to-do" list for the upcoming week. I've realized that my lists tend to keep growing and growing, which probably has something to do with the stress.
At the start of the second half, there are some dramatic increases with the now black pepper profiles. It is almost like the cigar changes dramatically into a whole separate cigar, because the flavors change so much. The new coffee notes pair well with the actual coffee I am drinking. The pepper balances well with the smoothness of the introduced caramel notes and this cigar feels more on the bold profile side then what it was earlier. It is quite amazing to me that even with the short size, how much flavor is packed in. The cigar also has both a near perfect draw and burn.
Oliva Brand is a Favorite
The Oliva brand has always been a fan favorite of mine and I would definitely recommend trying the Nub line of cigars. There are a variety of different wrappers to try that can satisfy multiple palettes. Also, the cost is generally low, so grab a sampler and smoke one!
