This Cigar Has Made a Top Name
Runny nose, itchy eyes, and a slight cough entered the scene at the end of August. At least the weather is beautiful today, unlike it has been the past few days. I am at this point getting excited for Fall and the official change over to pretty leaves and pumpkin everything. And yes, I had to admit I love pumpkin spice (for the month of October) that is. Today I am smoking the Montecristo Double Corona. With an aged Dominican binder, Dominican fillers, and Connecticut wrapper, this cigar has made a top name for itself in both ratings and popularity these past few years. It is a beauty to look at with the near perfect like construction. I am smoking this cigar with you guessed it…pumpkin caramel flavored coffee. A bold choice, but hey I felt like it.
The First Half of My Smoke is Filled With Vanilla, a Bit of Spice and Some Extra Creaminess.
Smooth as silk you might say. This Montecristo has some different flavor profiles than the other Montecristo cigars and you can honestly tell that this cigar has some higher quality to it. The spice catches me a little off guard, but I do enjoy it with the vanilla notes. I am currently walking the dog and enjoying the lovely 70-degree weather, despite my nose constantly running. I am currently planning my fall trip to Lake Placid (NY), not the other gator one, to visit family and check out the fall foliage. As I get older, I can see myself getting more and more restless about staying in one spot. Maybe it’s time for a change, who knows.
There really isn’t much change to the flavor profile until the midway point where there is an introduction of cedar and Earth tones. The flavor is very mild and smooth. Definitely an easy smoke I would say so far. There is also a bit of leather, which having smoked this cigar before I have never tasted before. I always say if you are going to write reviews about a cigar to smoke it a few times prior. I always seem to discover new flavors each time around. At this point, my Pug is worn out and its time to head back to the house. My Pug (Michael Scott- “that’s what she said”) can only manage a few loops around the neighborhood until he is completely winded.
Overall, I really enjoy this cigar. It packs a lot of flavors and is a very casual smoke. I had no issues with the construction or burn even when being outside most of the time. Also, it has a pretty decent price point which doesn’t help either.
